Blue blazes!

MALT is working with the National Park Service and the North Country Trail Association to get the TAM and extensions added to the NOCO. This would lengthen the NOCO and enable hikers to travel from Crown Point to the Long Trail.

The Blue Trail was constructed by MALT in 2012 for the future expansion of the North Country National Scenic Trail. The North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST) is marked by blue blazes throughout the 4600 miles of trail, which is where the Blue Trail originally received its name. As of March 12th 2019, the president signed the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act into law. This means the route adjustment into Vermont is a reality.

The TAM and MALT are now an official section and chapter of the NCNST and MALT will work in 2019 and 2020 to scope possible extensions from the TAM to East Middlebury and Moosalamoo.

MALT is working with partners like the Green Mountain National Forest, VT Fish & Wildlife, Moosalamoo Association, and the Addison County Bike Club to plan future trail sections.
